Wynn and International Wine Challenge Host World’s Leading Sake Event

Macau (Macao SAR) – June 18, 2019 (travelindex.com) – Wynn Palace Cotai will once again host the Sake Feast with International Wine Challenge (IWC), one of the world’s foremost international wine competitions from June 24 to 25. This year’s event features an exclusive program focused entirely around sake, which includes Walkabout Tasting, Gala Dinner, Masterclass session and an evening devoted to the Dinner at Mizumi. The IWC event gives food and beverage professionals from around the world an opportunity to return to the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, where they can meet face-to-face, share culinary ideas and savor the finest in food and wine.

The two-day event will feature 17 sakes that have all received the prestigious IWC
Yamagata Trophy and Gold Medal awards, including Japan’s Yamagata Sake, which has
received the most IWC Japan wine awards for few consecutive years. Representatives from nine of Japan’s leading Yamagata sake producers will also attend the events at Wynn Palace to share their extensive knowledge about sake with guests.

On the evenings of June 24 and 25, Wynn Palace will host two very special dinner events
curated by internationally renowned chefs and complemented by award-winning sakes from Yamagata for guests to enjoy extraordinary dining experiences:

• The Gala Dinner on June 24 will be masterfully crafted by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants award-winner Executive Chef Tam Kwok Fung of Wing Lei Palace; Wynn Executive Pastry Chef Yoann Mathy; Executive Chef Michihiro Haruta of Tokyo’s Michelin one-starred Crony restaurant and Executive Chef Takagi Kazuo of the Michelin two-starred Kyoto Cuisine Takagi. Together, they will present the flavors of China, Japan and France for guests to savor with the finest sake from Yamagata prefecture at the dinner banquet. This 8-course dinner menu is priced at MOP 1,388* per guest.

• A very special Dinner at Mizumi on June 25 will feature an exquisite pairing of Yamagata sake with the flavors of France. Mizumi at Wynn Palace is pleased to welcome Head Chef Noboru Arai of the Michelin two-starred Hommage in Tokyo, giving guests the opportunity of a lifetime to experience his star-studded cuisine paired with award-winning IWC sake. This 8-course dinner is priced at MOP 1,888*. *Prices are subject to a 10% service charge Wine writers Robert Joseph and Charles Metcalfe are the masterminds behind IWC, which was founded in London in 1984 to select the world’s finest wines. Professional judges from around the world use blind tasting methods to assess the wines on three separate occasions to determine the best of the best. The IWC sake competition was introduced in 2007 and has since become the one of the most influential sake competitions outside of Japan and offers an international platform for sake.
